The Arts & Crafts Movement started in England in the 1860’s, but grew to prominence in North America from 1900 to 1920.

Focussing on a return to natural materials and patterns, as a reaction to the often overblown designs of the late Victorian period, the Arts & Crafts movement saw a rise in smaller, artistic homes, usually typified by California bungalows, with shingle exteriors, wide front porches and heavy timbers and beams.
