The Chelsea Damask design dates from the 1890's, but was popular through the 1920's. This design was used in one of the bedrooms at Biltmore, in Ashville, North Carolina, which was designed architect Richard Morris Hunt for George and Edith Vanderbilt, and built from 1889 to 1895. It was the largest private home in the United States.

Charles Rupert Designs holds the original wood printing block for this design in their archives. The wallpaper currently available is printed on vintage Surface Print machines to achieve a hand-blocked appearance.
